Upcoming Community Pharmacy Workforce Survey - September 2025
Published: 01/08/25
This article is intended for independent community pharmacies
In September 2025, NES Pharmacy, in partnership with Community Pharmacy Scotland (CPS), will be coordinating the next national community pharmacy workforce survey.
Why it matters:
This important survey aims to build a clearer picture of staffing levels and skill mix across Scotland’s community pharmacies. The insights gathered will play a key role in shaping future workforce planning and development, helping to ensure that the right resources are in place to meet both current and future demand.
What you need to do:
For independent community pharmacies, the data will be gathered via an online survey link sent to your shared pharmacy mailbox. We recommend that you identify one person within the team to gather and submit the necessary information on behalf of your pharmacy.
The survey will capture a snapshot of your workforce during the week from Sunday 7th to Saturday 13th September 2025, and will include:
Employed pharmacists
Locum pharmacists
Foundation trainee pharmacists
Pharmacy technicians (including trainees)
Pharmacy support team members
You will receive further details and instructions closer to the time. In the meantime, we encourage you to begin considering who in your team is best placed to coordinate this task.
Thank you in advance for your support, your input is vital to help us influence workforce planning for the benefit of the whole sector.
