Blood Bikes Scotland -Everest Challenge - South Glen Shiel Ridge
Published: 28th May 2026
Community Pharmacy Scotland colleagues are stepping up this year to support our charity partner, Blood Bikes Scotland, and one of our team members is taking on an incredible challenge to help raise funds.
Our Audit & Services Assistant, Emma Ramage, will soon be heading to the northwest Highlands with her son Sam to complete the South Glen Shiel Ridge in Kintail, a demanding route covering nearly 30km and taking in seven Munros, one Munro Top and two Corbetts. With around 1,818 metres of ascent and an expected 9 to 11 hours on the hill, it will be a huge achievement and a brilliant contribution towards the Blood Bikes Scotland Everest Challenge.
Emma nominated Blood Bikes Scotland as Community Pharmacy Scotland’s charity partner this year after seeing first-hand the difference the charity makes to people and families across Scotland.
Emma said:
“Blood Bikes Scotland is a charity very close to my heart. A few years ago, one of my close friends, Nic, became seriously ill with blood cancer. After countless transfusions and a bone marrow transplant, I’m so happy to say she is now living a healthy and happy life with her husband, their three boys and their dog Ted.
“Last year, my family and I raised money for a charity chosen by Nic, and she chose Blood Bikes Scotland. When I was asked to nominate a charity partner at work this year, they were my first choice.
“So here I am again, taking on another challenge to raise money for such a worthwhile cause. Sam and I are hoping our South Glen Shiel Ridge challenge will help us smash the step target needed to climb the height of Everest as part of the Blood Bikes Scotland Challenge. Any support people can give would mean so much. Thank you.”
Blood Bikes Scotland provides a vital volunteer service across the country, transporting blood, medical supplies and other urgent items for NHS services and patients. Their work helps support care across Scotland every day, and we are proud to support their fundraising efforts this year.
