The Scottish Government has issued updated guidance on prescription stationery for non-medical prescribers working in GP practices and community settings. The changes introduce wider use of GP10(SS)(5) prescription forms and set out the associated system and governance arrangements for nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals using GP IT systems.

Support is being introduced for the use of single-sheet GP10(SS)(5) prescription stationery for all non-medical prescribers using OneAdvanced (Vision/Adastra) or Optum (EMIS) GP IT systems.

No. MCR serial prescriptions issued by Nurse Independent Prescribers and Pharmacist Independent Prescribers in OneAdvanced GP Practices, using their own prescribing credentials, cannot be supported at this time.

Community pharmacy contractors will still be reimbursed and should not request a replacement prescription solely because it has been printed on the incorrect prescription stationery, provided the prescription is otherwise valid.

GP Practices should organise repeat prescriptions by prescriber profession so that each prescriber signs prescriptions issued under their own prescribing credentials. Prescriptions must clearly identify both the individual prescriber and their prescriber profession.
