Prevent, Detect & Treat at the Scottish Conservative Conference

Published: 19/06/25

On Friday the 13th of June the we hosted a fringe event at the annual Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party Conference, this year held at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium.

The session aimed to draw the audience’s attention to what the community pharmacy network in Scotland could do in the areas of preventative health, early detection of ill health, and the ongoing treatment of acute conditions within the community. These ambitions also called on the need for any enhancement or addition of services to be met with adequate funding and infrastructure support for community pharmacy. This was also a great opportunity to highlight the increasing availability of pharmacist independent prescribers within community pharmacies across Scotland, and sparked a range of questions in the Q&A panel session.

This is the third Scottish political party conference CPS has attended this year with the aim of each conference being to inform and influence political policy makers and advocate for the community pharmacy network on our members behalf. Next up is the annual SNP conference due to be held in October. But before then, keep your eyes peeled for the flurry of activity that will be happening to launch the CPS Strategy this summer.
