Glipizide Supply
Published: 08/09/21
As you may be aware there is some supply disruption at the moment to Glipizide 5mg tablets (Minodiab) and these are anticipated to be out-of-stock until mid-October 2021.
If you have any patients who receive this, you can follow the guidance contained within this Medicines Supply Alert Notice. You should contact the prescriber to discuss the most suitable clinical course of action, whether that is an alternative medicine or an unlicensed version.
If you do supply the unlicensed product, please remember to follow your local Health Board’s process for obtaining specials authorisation. You should also remember to endorse both the price paid as SP followed by the price in pence, and to claim your handling charge of £30, endorsed as HC 3000. If you incur any other handling charges, postage costs, or other out of pocket expenses, you can also claim these using the XP endorsement followed by the cost in pence and then what the cost relates to (PP for postage, HC for handling charge etc).
Most importantly, please ensure to endorse on both paper and electronically, so you are paid correctly for the work you have done and what you have supplied.
If you have any further questions regarding medicines supply, endorsing or the specials process, please contact us on 0131 466 3540 or at pharmacy.services@cps.scot
