Rejected Item Reporting

Published: 20/11/25

Since the implementation of nDCVP in 2023 there has been no visibility on rejected items via the eSchedules for you or our team at CPS. Work has been ongoing at NSS to fix this issue and reporting of these items is expected soon.

We have reviewed August rejected items and have compiled a list of the top 25 most common pharmacy first rejected items here for review.

The most common reasons for rejected items on pharmacy first are:

  • POM packs being dispensed or selected on the PMR which are not on the approved list

  • Dressings claimed from boxes on the PMR instead of singles (only singles are listed on the approved list)

To pass for payment, items supplied under pharmacy first should be recorded as they appear on the approved list and claimed from the pack size that appears on the approved list. We continue to engage with NSS and Scottish Government on the requirements for the service.

CPS will analyse rejected items going forward and provide further information to teams on common reasons for claim rejection.

Guidance will also be provided by NSS on who to contact regarding all other rejected items that you may have questions on.

If you have any questions, please contact the team at pharmacy.services@cps.scot or call us on 0131 467 7766.
