The following are the Top Three items currently under discussion and review by your CPS Board.

1.Superintendent and Responsible Pharmacist standards and rules

The Board discussed and signed off on the CPS’s response to this GPhC consultation on behalf of the network. The Executive team will publicise this in more detail in the coming weeks, encouraging contractors and their teams to get involved too - the feedback will help the GPhC decide on the Responsible Pharmacist rules for the coming years, which affects us all.

2.Political engagement

Board members considered and commented on our current approach to the upcoming Scottish Parliamentary elections, with our main aim being inclusion of CPS Manifesto ambitions being picked up by political parties in their own campaigns. The Executive team are ramping up our lobbying activity, and will look to the network to support pharmacy visits and media opportunities.

Contractor members are asked to contact the CPS Policy office via enquiries@cps.scot if they are approached by politicians or their teams, or if they have spotted a potential opportunity to highlight our manifesto to influential figures.

3.Digital prescribing and dispensing

The Board assessed and supported the refinement of a costing approach that the Executive team propose to use in capturing the costs to contractors of going paperless. This will be kept up to date and built upon with costings as we move forward, informing the negotiations for future years.
