PVG Applications: Avoid Delays with CPS

Published: 18th June 2026

If you are applying to the PVG Scheme through CPS, a few simple checks can help avoid delays. This update sets out what to confirm before submitting your application.

If you are applying to the PVG Scheme through Community Pharmacy Scotland (CPS), there are a few key steps that must be completed correctly before we can progress your application. We are currently seeing some avoidable delays, mainly where payment has not been made at the point of submission, if you, the applicant, are paying for your PVG or where employment details have not been provided accurately. This guidance explains what to check before you submit your application so it can be processed without delay.

Payment at the point of submission

If you are paying for your own PVG application, payment must be made at the same time as submitting your form. We are unable to begin processing your application until payment has been received. Submitting the form without payment will mean your application cannot move forward, and this will delay the overall process. Making payment at the point of submission helps ensure everything can be processed as quickly as possible.

If your employer is paying on your behalf, an invoice will be generated and sent directly to them.

Employer details must be accurate

It is important that you clearly provide the full name of the organisation you work for. We are currently seeing applications where a person’s name has been entered instead of the company name, which is not correct and can cause delays. Please make sure that your employment details reflect the organisation you work for, using the correct and full company  name. If this information is unclear or incorrect, we may need to contact you before we can proceed.

Submitting your application

Before submitting your application, it is worth taking a moment to check that everything has been completed correctly and submitted together. This includes ensuring your form is fully completed, your ID documents are provided and match your details, payment has been made if required, and your employer information is accurate where relevant.

Taking these simple steps at the point of submission will help us avoid delays and allow your application to move forward more smoothly.

  • You must provide the full and correct name of the organisation you work for. Entering a person’s name instead of the company name is not correct and can cause delays while the information is clarified.

  • You should make sure your form is fully completed, your ID documents are provided and match your details, payment has been made if required, and your employer information is accurate. Ensuring everything is complete helps avoid delays in processing.
