Jenny O’Donnell: Governance Officer

I joined CPS in January 1996 when it was still known as Scottish Pharmaceutical General Council.  I worked in the Central Checking Unit when the prescriptions were still priced manually and checking was the sole purpose of the role.  I gradually started to help with other areas and after a few organisational restructures and different roles I became Governance Officer.  I started my working life at the Prescription Pricing Division as it was known then, pricing prescriptions and then as a Higher Clerical Officer (Senior Pricer).  That was back in the day when most prescriptions were handwritten and a joy trying to decipher some of them!

I have a wide variety of duties which include overseeing financial activities within the office, compliance with statutory burdens, IT Support, Health & Safety and some elements of HR.  I am also a director of SPGC Property which is the company that owns the office premises.  With that comes the responsibility of overseeing works to the building.

When I’m not at work I like to spend time with my grandsons or more relaxing hobbies of reading, knitting and sewing.
