My Quit Journey: Completed
Published: 27/08/25
Twelve weeks ago, I walked into my local community pharmacy with hope, a little trepidation, and a long history of failed attempts to quit smoking.
Today, I walk out a non-smoker.
This journey has been more than just taking medication (Varenicline). It’s been a transformation. The Varenicline Service didn’t just offer tablets; it offered structure, accountability, and valuable support. Weekly appointments became milestones. Carbon monoxide readings became markers of progress. And the pharmacy team became partners in change.
There were moments of doubt, frustration, and temptation. But each time, I had tools to support me: breathing exercises, small routines, and the steady encouragement of professionals who genuinely cared. I learned to pause, to choose differently, and to trust myself.
Now, smoking no longer feels like a temptation. It feels like a chapter I’ve closed. I’ve stopped counting the days because I’m no longer trying to quit, I have quit. And I’m living proof that with the right support, change is not only possible, it’s sustainable.
To the team at my community pharmacy: thank you. You’ve helped me reclaim my health, my confidence, and my future.
My quit journey has completed. But my smoke-free life is just beginning.
