Independent Prescribers: Useful Websites

Published: 07/08/25

In the past, Community Pharmacy Scotland (CPS) maintained a Useful Websites page tailored to the needs of Independent Prescribers, and we’re now working to rebuild and refresh that page.

As part of this, we wanted to highlight the General Dermatology Diagnostic Tool from the Primary Care Dermatology Society (PCDS)

Why It’s Useful

The Primary Care Dermatology Society (PCDS) offers a practical resource: the General Dermatology Diagnostic Tool, developed by Dr. Tim Cunliffe. This visual, site-based diagnostic aid helps clinicians navigate inflammatory skin conditions, rashes, and disorders affecting areas such as hair, nails, oral mucosa, and specifically, the lower legs.

By selecting the “mainly lower legs” section of the tool, Independent Prescribers can swiftly filter differential diagnoses relevant to that anatomical region. The interface allows clinicians to explore cases via history, site, or morphology (appearance).
