Our colleagues at Public Service Delivery Scotland (PSDS) have published the latest issue of their Pharmacy Matters newsletter, with practical guidance on submitting paper prescriptions so that payments can be made on schedule. The next courier collection is Tuesday 3rd November 2026 so it is important to remind ourselves of the dos and don’ts when preparing for a collection:

The dos and don’ts

  • Do make sure every form arrives clean, clear and complete.

  • Don’t use stickers on paper prescriptions.

  • Don’t remove stickers before submitting either, as this can leave a residue that stops forms from scanning.

  • Don’t use labels, sticky notes or staples, as these can cover important information or cause scanning problems.

  • Do get in touch with PSDS before submitting if you are unsure. The team is happy to help you avoid delays or rejected items.

PSDS will also be reminding GP practices not to attach stickers or staples to prescriptions.

  • Lothian contractors received an estimated payment in September following a major network outage. Any overpayments will be recovered in full on 30 October 2026.

  • Ten additional dressing products are now accepted for Pharmacy First Scotland payment from the August 2026 dispensing month.

  • Recovery adjustments for GP14 prescriptions for Duraphat, which will appear under the eSchedule code SystemERR. Prescriptions presented with “Duraphat” in the item name should be returned to the prescriber to be amended to the generic name “sodium fluoride”.

  • A known issue with the item-level out-of-pocket expenses report in the eSchedule. Use the PAY001/002 report to check totals for now.
