Campaign Support

Alzheimer Scotland are a leading force for change. They campaign and lobby for the rights of people living with dementia. In this section, we've included information on their campaigns and how you can show your support.

Fair Dementia Care Logo

This campaign highlights the inequalities people living with advanced dementia are facing when it comes to accessing healthcare. Through Alzheimer Scotland's Delivering fair Dementia Care for People Living with Advanced Dementia’ report, they are calling for people with advanced dementia to receive the same rights to access the same free healthcare that those living with other long term, progressive illnesses currently receive in Scotland.

Right now, people living with advanced dementia are facing £50.9m in care costs.

Purple Alert App Logo

Purple Alert is the first app of its kind in the UK which helps to find people living with dementia when they are lost.

The app alerts members of the community when a person with dementia loses their way and becomes separated from their loved ones, friends or carers. The app has been specially designed by people living with dementia alongside Alzheimer Scotland It uses GPS technology to send an alert to all users within a 30-mile radius and report sightings.

Please download the app on your phone or tablet – it takes a matter of minutes and can help us save a life. If a vulnerable person with dementia in your community goes missing, you will receive an alert with full information so that you can help the search.

Look for Purple Alert in your app store, or find out more here:

Download the Purple Alert poster to display in your pharmacy.

Join Dementia Research Image

Join Dementia Research is a service which allows people to register their interest in national dementia research. It is a UK wide organisation that was developed by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) in partnership with Alzheimer Scotland, Alzheimer’s Research UK and Alzheimer’s Society. It helps people with dementia, their carers, or anyone interested in dementia research to be matched to studies.

Once registered, your details will be stored securely, and will be regularly checked to see if you match to studies.
